Garden figure: Antique female figure with wreath of flowers
Terracotta. stamped "V. Brausewetter Wagram". H 146 cm. 77.30 kg.
The depiction of a striding woman stands on a polygonal plinth. She is clad in antique-style robes and holds her robe with her left hand, in the folds of which are flowers, while she raises a wreath of flowers with her right. Possibly the depiction of Flora. Larger crack on the reverse, larger chip to the robe at the left waist, minor chipping and cracks, base chipped and uneven.
Viktor Brausewetter: German-Austrian civil engineer and building contractor, studied at the Hanover Polytechnic School, later employed as construction director at the Staats-Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft, took over the Freiherr v. Dobblhof'sche Thonwaaren-Fabrik in Wagram in 1843, founded the cement goods and artificial stone factory Pittel & Brausewetter with Adolph Freiherr von Pittel in 1870.
