Bracket clock on a console with quarter-hour chimes.
Probably southern Germany. Circa 1840.
The clock measures 41.5 x 23.0 x 15.5 cm; the console measures 50.0 x 47.5 x 26.0 cm. The clock weighs 4.5 kg, the console 9.5 kg.
A veneered pillar clock from the Biedermeier period with quarter-hour striking and an inlay on the front depicting a snail shell, along with a matching console. The dial features a minute track, Arabic numerals, and Breguet hands. Tested briefly and found to be in working order. Overall, it shows slight signs of age and wear. The back cover to the movement can theoretically be locked, though no key is included; the latch was added at a later date, and the enamel on the dial shows damage and some signs of repair.
Includes 2 keys.
