Portfolio in a slipcase from 1954 to 1956 containing ten lithographs, produced in the workshops of the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig, printed by Horst Arloth (1925–2018). Consisting of a title page (numbered on the reverse “III/18/55 Lp 25067/55”), a table of contents, a sheet with a poem by Georg Herwegh, and the lithographs: 1.) General Strike, 2.) Against the Reaction (second version here), 3.) Demonstration, 4.) Shooting of Workers, 5.) Illegal Meeting, 6.) Arming the Working Class (here including both the first version from 1954 and the second version from 1955), 7.) Sentry, 8.) Barricade Battle, 9.) Storm, 10.) Raising the Red Flag. Color lithograph of the title page “Armed Workers” mounted on a slipcase. Remnants of mounting on the reverse, crease marks, slightly browned and slightly wavy, edges of the sheets chipped.
German painter and graphic artist; studied at the HGB Leipzig; pioneer and teacher of the Leipzig School.
