Terracotta, reddish-orange. Marked “L. Madrassi Paris.” H 89.5 cm. 12.14 kg.
Female semi-nude figure resting in a tree, wearing a hat and holding a lute. Signs of age and wear, small chips and scratches, cracks; the lute has been broken and repaired in several places.
Luca Madrassi: Italian sculptor; began his art studies in Rome and then attended the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris; worked in the studio of Carrier-Belleuse and for Gustave Doré.
