Bronze sculpture of a Gallic warrior holding a raised laurel branch
Patinated bronze. Marked “Drouot,” foundry mark “Vrai Bronze Garanti Paris.” H 57.5 cm. 7.15 kg.
Standing warrior in a fur-like robe, wearing a winged helmet, holding a shield and a battle axe, triumphantly raising a laurel branch with his right hand. Possibly a depiction of Vercingetorix. Few signs of age and wear; patina partially worn away; slight patina formation (verdigris); laurel branch removable.
Édouard Drouot: French sculptor; studied in Paris under the sculptors Émile Thomas and Mathurin Moreau.
