Marble. Inscribed “Belloc.” H 58 cm, W 39 cm. 46 kg.
Bust of a young woman with her gaze reverently lowered. Hardly any signs of age or wear; minor chips.
Jean-Baptiste Belloc: French sculptor; studied drawing under the sculptor François Lacombe in Perpignan; admitted to the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1882, where he worked under Jules Dumont, Jean-Marie Bonnassieux, and Gabriel-Jules Thomas, and joined the studio of the sculptor and painter Antonin Mercié.
