Large Baroque-style female bust
Terracotta, light beige. Without signature, “Double Louis” Sèvres mark. 65 x 39 x 23 cm. 10.3 kg.
Bust of a young woman with cascading corkscrew curls and a pearl necklace, dressed in a low-cut gown with a large bow. Presumably a depiction of the French writer Marie de Rabutin-Chantal, Marquise de Sévigné. Some chips on the base; traces of adhesive and restoration on the hair bow and the hair; most of the pearls on the necklace are missing.
