Maler und Radierer in Weimar und Schwaan/Mecklenburg. Studierte an der Akademie der Künste Berlin sowie an der großherzoglich-sächsischen Kunstschule in Weimar bei Theodor Hagen als Meisterschüler. Erhielt dort später Lehramt für Landschaftsmalerei und anschließend eine Professur.
