Probably tempera, glazed, in the probably original wooden frame with brass fittings. 8.5 x 7 cm, frame 18 x 17 cm.
Very finely painted young woman with a lute in her hand and rosary in her hair in front of a primeval forest landscape.
Counterpart to catalog no.1451 / see also catalog no. 1455.. Minimal missing parts on the frame.
Miniature and pastel painter and lithographer. Studied at the Academy of Copenhagen. 1786 to 1803 travels to Italy, Germany (Berlin, Dresden, Leipzig) and Austria (Vienna). In 1804 he became a Danish court painter, lived in Charlottenburg since 1816 and received the title of professor.
