Oven plate with Saxon horse.
17th/18th c.
Cast iron with graphite coating. 53 x 72 cm, rectangular frame 51 x 63 cm.
Left side plate from a box furnace / five-plate furnace. In the profiled rectangular picture frame between rosettes set cartouche with jumping horse as well as motto "In Recto Degus". To the right of the cartouche 2 drilled holes for the furnace assembly. Rust traces.
The motto is of George I (1660-1727), Elector of Brunswick and Hanover and founder of the personal union between Britain and Hanover.
Provenance : Guteborn Castle in Saxony (now Brandenburg) / Estate of the Princes of Schönburg-Waldenburg in Guteborn.
