Large equestrian figure: Saint Martin
Wood polychrome painted and partly gilded, leather fittings, brass curb. Circa 1800(?). Approx. 78 x 65 x 28 cm.
Group of figures worked towards a main view with fully sculptured horse on curved plinth and (removable) rider. St. Martin of Tours in antique armor divides his wrinkled cloak with a sword and turns to the main show side to. In the Germanic National Museum Nuremberg restored with a few additions and original version exposed, partly retouched. Without beggar. Dry cracks, missing parts of the leather, signs of age / wear.
