Brass partly with high copper content, each chased or marbled. Oblong tray 43 x 24, bowl H 9 cm, Ø 14 cm.
Oval tray with hallmark ornament on the wall "Mendelssohn" marked with additions "47" and "Sch". / Oblong tray with beaded rim in the style of Alois Wörle with the mark of Neue Münchener Kunst and no. "114". / Bowl with mark of Eva von Stössel with no. "951". Each with signs of age/use.
Georg von Mendelssohn (1886 - 1955) was a student of the Debschitz School. Under the influence of Riemerschmid, he shifted to brass drift work and became a member of the Deutscher Werkbund. Since 1910 he worked in the artists' colony Hellerau near Dresden / Eva von Stössel was one of the few metalsmiths in the haze of the artists' colony Dresden-Hellerau and the German Werkbund at the time of the Bauhaus, her temporary husband was Georg von Mendelssohn.
