Rare depiction of the Baroque garden of the Hesse Castle complex in Osterwieck, Saxony-Anhalt, titled "Fürstlicher Lustgarten zu Hessen"; the only depiction of a single garden complex from "Topographia Germaniae", 1642 - 1659. Backglued centerfold, minimal traces of handling.
Important engraver; belonged to the family of engravers Merian, whose main work is the "Topographia Germaniae". With more than 2000 views in 16 volumes of important cities, monasteries and castles of the Holy Roman Empire, it is still considered one of the most important complete works with geographical illustrations.
