Close alley of an Italian city with the Corinthian columns of a temple under cloudy sky. Minimal signs of age.
German landscape and genre painter and graphic artist, studied at the Grand Ducal School of Art in Weimar with Alexander Michelis and Theodor Hagen, from 1868 board of the Weimar Etching Association, 1876 appointment as associate professor at the Weimar School of Art and 1879-81 its secretary, 1881 move to Berlin, from 1887 active in Blasewitz near Dresden, made several trips to Italy, attended exhibitions in Weimar, Munich and Vienna.
