Biedermeier pot and lidded pot. Marburg pottery.
Yellow inventory numbers 1309, 1310 a and 1310 b, label remains. 1st half 19th c.
Ordenware, clay brown and honey yellow glazed, dark brown rimmed, dotted decoration and colored floral overlay.
Cylindrical jug with pointed finial and ear handle, on the outside a bird motif between plants, h 24,5 cm. Round two-handled pot with flat moulded lidded bowl on 3 ball feet, floral decoration, h ca. 16 cm, Ø 23,5 cm. Glaze damage, bumps, lid glued, jug handle restored.
Both pieces are marked with inventory numbers of the Meissen City Museum. The Meissen collector and archaeological preservationist Max Andrä (1866-1946) had made them available to the redesigned Meissen City Museum in 1934 as a permanent loan. After the fall of the Wall, the loaned items were returned to the heirs of the collector Max Andrä. From their possession these collection pieces were acquired.
