Polychrome painted, gold decorated. Ø 24,5 cm.
Model "English smooth". On the flag a golden fond band with blue vine tendril in reserve painting, in the mirror the representation of a bouquet of flowers with chrysanthemum, nasturtium, auricula, horned violet and forget-me-not. Minimal gold abrasion.
François Barthélemy (1747-1830) was a French diplomat and politician who became French envoy to Switzerland in 1791. As such, he was instrumental in the negotiations between the warring parties during the war between France and Prussia and Spain, respectively, and ultimately in the achievement of the Peace of Basel in 1795. The plate is part of a dinner service that François Barthélemy received from the Prussian King William II in recognition of the conclusion of the peace treaty.
