Pair of leather boots.
2nd half 19th century
Fine (goat?) leather dyed reddish brown. H 27 cm, sole length outside 28 cm.
Unlined men's soft leather boots with stitched leather soles. Attached old slip of paper with handwritten note: "Gift from Prince Frederick Carl [of Prussia] to Lieutenant von Gutzmerow in the Guard Hussars" and probably by another hand: "from a trip from Russia". Signs of age/use.
Friedrich Karl of Prussia (1828 Berlin 1885 Klein Glienicke) was a Prussian prince and field marshal general, Tsar Alexander II appointed him Russian field marshal.
Emil von Gutzmerow (1821 Königsberg - 1906 Berlin) was a palace captain in Königs Wusterhausen, chamberlain to the Queen or Empress Augusta, lord of rank at Groß Leuthen Palace and a member of the Prussian House of Lords.
