Rare Art Nouveau thermometer. Vienna workshop.
Early 20th century MOSER, Koloman (design)(1868 Vienna - 1918 Vienna)
Oak stained mahogany, brass lacquered red and black, glass, violet liquid. 24.5 x 4.5 cm.
Brass plate screwed onto the base board with intertwined linear ornament; "Wiener Werkstätte" inscribed at the bottom and designer's monogram at the top. Black backed scales in Réaumur and Celsius. 1 screw nut on the back is missing.
Painter, graphic artist and applied artist in Vienna, pupil of Rumpler, Griepenkerl, Trenkwald and Matsch. Co-founder of the Vienna Secession in 1897. Professor at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts. 1903 Co-founder of the Wiener Werkstätte, of which he was a member until 1907.
