Stuart Davis was an American painter. He was a pupil of Robert Henri and initially painted in the style of the Ashcan School, but later focused on the landscape painting of Vincent van Gogh. As early as 1913, he was one of the youngest painters to exhibit at the Amory Show and, during the 1920s, he increasingly began to focus on the packaging of consumer products in his compositions, which characterized Pop Art in the 1960s. His work is largely associated with Cubism and Pop Art.
