Ostentatious garden carpet with elaborate floral designs.
1st half 20th century Probably Kashan/Keshan or Meshed, central or north-eastern Persia. Signed and dated in the border.
Mercerized wool, very fine hand-knotting. Polychrome decoration with predominantly violet-red, yellow, blue and green. Approx. 331 x 445 cm.
All-over patterned central field with regularly repeating lavish floral decoration of flowers, flowering branches and living trees. Multi-row border with alternating cartouches with vase motifs and lifeblooms. Fringed ends. Minimal signs of age and wear.
With a copy of an undated expertise from the "Teppich Galerie" Stuttgart, listed there as a Kashan-Tushanjian palace carpet from the end of the 19th century.
