Baroque Thuringian faience tankard with eagle decoration. Dorotheenthal.
Unmarked. Circa 1740/50.
White glazed, colored hot-fire painting. H 26 cm.
Cylindrical body with a ribbon handle decorated with strokes, on the front a blue "Prussian eagle" with orb, surrounded by flowers. Profiled pewter lid with ball finial, pewter stand ring bolted into the wall. Pewter with slight defects and traces of soldering, fine cracks to the walls, slight defects to the glaze in places, rubbing.
