Van de Velde: painter, graphic artist, architect, designer, studied at the academy in Antwerp. 1907-1914 director of the art school in Weimar, 1907 founding member of the Deutscher Werkbund. 1926-1943 Director of the Institut Supérior des Arts Décoratifs in Brussels. One of the most versatile and important artists of Art Nouveau. The gold version, which was twice as expensive, was only offered in the pattern lists until 1912 * Partner auction Bergmann.
