Baroque equatorial travel sundial in a baroque case.
Marked with the monogram "LTM". Around 1750. MÜLLER, Ludwig Theodor (around 1710 - 1770)
Engraved brass, compass needle, cardboard case with green paper. Ø compass 6.5 cm, Ø case 8.5 cm. Total weight 0.1 kg.
Folding sundial with finely engraved octagonal base plate around the compass. Openable latitudo degree arch, equatorial ring with Roman hour markers, hinged pole in the ring as a shadow caster (gnomon). Hinged holder with engraving for the plumb bob. Engraved city names on the compass base (e.g. Lisbon, Rome, Venice, Vienna, Munich, Strasbourg, Salzburg and Nuremberg) with the respective latitude. Glass plate missing (original compass needle present), compass base rubbed.
Ludwig Theodor Müller was a compass maker in Augsburg.
