Baluster vase with pâte-sur-pâte decoration. Meissen.

Mould model by Ernst August Leuteritz and co-workers, model year: 1870-1875 (mould), pâte-sur-pâte decoration around 1890. Mid-blue ground, all-round ornamental gold decoration, frontal "Floating cupid with roses and dove" on salmon-coloured ground, cartouche framing with coloured mass painting. Incised mark, pressed mark, sword mark.
* Pâte-sur-pâte decoration: cameo-like, flat relief applied in layers with a brush to the already colored vessel. Ludwig Sturm, Paul Kretzschmar and Julius Hentschel in particular executed these elaborate brush reliefs in Meissen. All lots with a limit (starting price) of at least €1,500 are checked against the Art Loss Register database.
