Rare magnificent bonbonnière with pâte-sur-pâte decoration. Meissen.
Molded 1890-1923.
ø 15.5 cm.
All-round rich gold decoration, gold in relief and pâte-sur-pâte painting over a differently colored background. On the lid "Hebe and Jupiter" in a large reserve, surrounded by small reserves with a pair of doves, flowers and Cupid trophies. Profiled brass mount with curved thumb grip. Crossed swords mark. Hinge of the brass mount defective.
* Pâte-sur-pâte decoration: Cameo-like, flat relief applied in layers with a brush to the already colored vessel. Ludwig Sturm, Paul Kretzschmar and Julius Hentschel in particular executed these elaborate brush reliefs in Meissen.
