"Falling Man"
Stainless steel. Germany. 1993. Signed "Gräsel '93", inscribed "e. a. "Falling Man" on the base. 22, 5 x 20 x 6 cm. 1.0 kg.
When open, the sculpture forms an L-shape. From the upright leg, the figure of the "Falling Man" falls towards the lower leg, but is stopped by a chain before it reaches the nail attached there, which is approximately at the level of the heart. The sculpture is collapsible so that the "Falling Man" can be guided over the nail through a slit in the left ribcage and pierced by it. Minimal signs of age and wear, coating partly stained and rubbed.
