The French kings are depicted on 38 numbered cards, starting with the Capetian dynasty (Hugh Capet; 941 - 996) up to the French Revolution and the subsequent regimes up to the Second Republic in 1848. In addition, this set includes 4 further cards depicting 2 medieval royal seals (Hugh Capet and a King Philip; however, this cannot be clearly assigned to the Philip I-VII in question), as well as the royal and French imperial coat of arms. On the picture cards for the respective rulers, notes on important personalities and events of the time as well as personal data on the rulers depicted and important other European rulers of the time are listed around the portrait cartouche.
Very rare, not to be found in the relevant playing card literature. On the box a contemporary sticker with the inscription "French Historical 1848".
