French Biedermeier game "Les Surprises".
6.8 x 5.5 cm. 19,9 g.
French game "Les Surprises" ("the surprises"). 12 transparent pictures on which, held against a light source, a previously supposedly invisible part of the picture becomes visible. The cards are each inserted into green folding cards on which a picture title is printed on the obverse in French and a short story contextualizing the transparent picture is printed on the inside. For example, there are games with silhouettes and shadows or dream scenes, some with historical and cultural references: two cards, for example, show depictions of Napoleon Bonaparte and another with the title "Le Cauchemar" ("The Nightmare") a motif based on Johann Heinrich Füssli's famous painting "The Nightmare" (1781). In historical slipcase.
The slipcase is handwritten with "N 1681".
