Victorian educational card game on the history of the kings and queens of England.

Victorian deck of cards on English history with a didactic background, probably after 1847 or 1852. Beginning with 4 cards on early history with Britons, Romans, (Anglo-)Saxons and Danes, followed by the English monarchs (including the Cromwell Protectorate) from 1066 to Queen Victoria (accession in 1837). The obverse of each card shows a portrait cartouche and below it a depiction of an important event during the lifetime of the respective monarch. The reverse shows a few brief explanations in English of other important events from the respective reign. The cards are each numbered twice (one number for the portrait cartouches and one for the event image). A total of 38/40 cards, 2 missing: 51/52 (Queen Mary I) and 65/66 (double monarchs Mary II and William III). Slight signs of age and use.
Note on dating: the last card for Queen Victoria ends on the obverse with the opening of the new Houses of Parliament in London (start of construction: 1840). The House of Lords first used its new premises in 1847, with the House of Commons following suit in 1852.
