Mid-20th century Mashhad Baluch, north-eastern Iran.
Wool, hand-knotted. Monochrome decoration with predominantly blue, brown, white and traces of orange. Approx. 142 x 82 cm.
Rectangular stepped mihrab with a dark floral rod pattern on an ivory-colored niche ground, flanked by 2 corresponding rectangular fields. Dark framing borders with geometric floral tendril decoration. Two-tone kilim edging with embroidered diamond pattern, short fringes. Signs of age and wear, minor defects in places, color fading, restored with additions.
