Large Art Nouveau table lamp. Daum Fréres & Louis Majorelle, Nancy.
Height: 63 cm. 4.4 kg.
Formerly gilded bronze base; with floral decoration in relief and 3-armed shade holder. Shades made of thick-walled clear frosted glass with powder fusions in violet, yellow and green. Chipped signatures Daum Nancy with Lorraine cross, old electrified, three light sources. One shade minimally chipped at the edge, minimal scratches.
* Majorelle, Louis, 1859 Toul - 1926 Nancy, cabinetmaker, painter and designer, son of Auguste, studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, took over his father's workshop in Nancy in 1879. 1901 co-founder and vice-president of the Ecole de Nancy, 1926 Alfred Lévy took over the management of the company, the Maison Majorelle closed in 1956.
