Extremely finely painted colored frame with 22 different genre scenes and 4 landscapes in floral tendrils, crowned by cupids and a full coat of arms with feathered helmet. Inscribed. Mounted, glazed blackened profile frame. At the upper edge two tears, browned.
Crola (actually Croll), landscape painter, draftsman. Brother of Carl Robert, father of Hugo, husband of Elise. Pupil of Johann Christian Klengel and Johann David Schubert in Dresden. Worked alternately in Dresden, Coburg, Munich and in the Harz Mountains. Resided in Ilsenburg since 1840. Traveled Italy, Sweden and Switzerland.
