Pieter van Bloemen, landscape and genre painter. Brother of Jan Frans, pupil of Simon Douw. 1673 master of the Guild of St. Luke, 1685-1693 active in Rome. Because of the pennants in his paintings he got the nickname Stendardo (Standard). Operated a large workshop in Antwerp from 1694, dean of the Guild of St. Luke in 1699. Repeatedly painted equestrian scenes influenced mainly by Philip Wouwerman, with whose works his are also often confused. Works in various European museums * partner auction Bergmann.
