Infantry officer's sabre 1816, ordnance weapon.
Blade marked: "E.L. Voigt in Dresden". Saxony.
Blade L 83 cm, total L 96.5 cm.
Heavily curved, single-edged blade with a broad fuller and pommel point. One third of the blade blued and decorated with gilt ornamentation. A Saxon coat of arms with medals on both sides and a trophy piece with lances on one side. Brass hilt with a lion's head pommel and a knuckle-bow in relief with the Saxon coat of arms. The rivet or screw head of the grip cap matches the relief of the mane. Leather grip with 14 grooves and simple, twisted wire winding. Narrow oval guard plate. Bright scabbard with brass mouthpiece and two decorative bands for the movable rings.
