Marked on the lid, eagle(?) hallmark on the wall. 1750/60s. (1716 - 1761)
Base and lid made of embossed copper, brass wall. 3.5 x 15 x 5 cm.
Oblong box made for the Dutch market with scenes in rococo relief frames: On the hinged lid, the Dutch coat of arms, flanked by Mercury and a round table; below, a Dutch saying. On the base Mercury and merchants with bales of goods in a park-like landscape above a Dutch motto . Drill hole to the back of the wall, missing parts of the wall covered by the base rim, otherwise a few signs of age/use.
These boxes were used to glorify the Prussian king, who emerged stronger from the Seven Years' War.
