Large Thuringian faience jug with chinoiserie. Johann Martin Meiselbach, Dorotheenthal.
Blue brush mark MB. Circa 1730/50.
White glazed, colored hot-fire painting. H 28 cm.
Cylindrical body with decorated band handle, two Asianized figures on the front between groups of trees and rocks. Replacement pewter lid with ball finial, engraved "J.G. Sauer 1823", replacement pewter stand. Slightly bumped and rubbed in places.
