Grey, salt-glazed stoneware with incised and stamped decoration, cobalt blue painting and dotted decoration. H 16.5 to 19.5 cm.

1x medallion jug with floral tendrils and flanking leaf bands, 1x leaping stag, 1x cross-grooved jug with broad leaf frieze. 2 jugs with cracks, partly chipped.

The Westerwald stoneware offered in this auction was collected by Albrecht von der Gabelentz (1873-1933), chamberlain at the ducal court in Altenburg. He was appointed director of the Lindenau Museum in 1912. After the duke's abdication in 1918, Albrecht von der Gabelentz also took over the management of the palace museum on a voluntary basis. The collection was continued by his son Georg (1906-1954).
