Rare large figurine group from the estate of King Frederick Augustus III: Fisherman and mermaid. Meissen.

Model year: 1886. White porcelain. Incised mark, pressed mark, sword mark, crowned underglaze blue monogram FA with (inventory no.) 122 of King Friedrich August III. The group in life-size Carrara marble is in Hamburg, Stiftung Historische Museen, Jenisch Haus. Originally commissioned for the palace of the Donner family of merchants and bankers in Hamburg, it came to the museum as a gift from Baron Conrad Hinrich von Donner. One corner of the base, the lower rod (visible), two small edges of the base, two toes partially restored, the restored corner of the base from below, one edge of the cloth (minimally) bumped, end of the rod missing, small glaze defects in places, firing cracks. Upper end of the rod and fingers of the fisherman's right hand with old spray residue, which can be scraped off.
