Small Art Nouveau terracotta bust "Coquille" No. 1. Viennese manufactory Friedrich Goldscheider.
Relief mark GS 8 a, ca. 1895-1898. model no. 891 a XXVII. design: Auguste LEDRU (1860-1902).
Light body, bronze matt glaze in shades of brown, decorated with color and gold. H 38 cm.
Female bust of an oriental woman looking to the left with a coin necklace as a headdress and around her neck, a simple scarf below her bare chest, on a square base. Partially slightly chipped and rubbed.
Provenance : Museum estate of Peter Kaus.
Update 12.02.26: Correction: The attribution to Auguste Ledru is incorrect. According to model number 891, it is not a bust entitled ‘Coquille’ but ‘Vasenträgerin’ (semi-nude). We would like to thank Mr Robert Dechant for pointing this out.
