Large bronze sculpture: Europe on the bull
Bronze, dark patina. Height: 47 cm, width: 54 cm. 35.6 kg.
Inscribed on the reverse: Schliepstein. Expressive depiction of the popular episode from Greek mythology. Zeus fell in love with the king's daughter Europa and transformed himself into a bull in order to abduct her. Patina minimally rubbed, one crack in each of two bull legs.
* Schliepstein, sculptor, modeler, designer and painter, studied at the academy in Berlin. Worked as a freelance artist in Berlin from 1910, freelancer for various German porcelain manufacturers, member of the Reichsverband bildender Künstler Deutschlands.
