Pair of representative figure candlesticks: Vesta
Bronze and brass, partially gilded, green-brown patina, red-brown marble pedestals with appliqués. France, second half of the 19th century. Height: 47 cm. 12 kg.
Vesta is an important Roman goddess, guardian of the sacred fire, the warming, preserving fire that gives life. Frontally aligned, fully sculpted cast standing figures on high pedestals as candlestick holders, their calm posture seems solemn. Unscrewable spouts. Applications on the sides of the pedestals are missing.
