2 "Baluch" niche rugs.
Mid-20th century Herat Baluch, north-eastern Iran.
Wool and goat's hair, hand-knotted. Monochrome decoration in brown, red, midnight blue, orange and ivory. Approx. 139 x 96.5 cm and 142 x 87 cm.
1 prayer rug with a double niche and a floral field in between, 1 prayer rug with a narrow mihrab, several vertical accompanying columns and a tall panel with a row of niches. Each with hooked pointed gables and a multi-row border with archaic ornaments and stylized floral patterns. Short kilim finishes with knotted fringes, some defects. Signs of age and wear, minor defects in places, the coloration slightly faded and no longer as intense in color.
